2/27/2024 0 Comments Tooth fairy rock movie![]() He carries the movie on his able shoulders with some help from other good actors. He is not embarrassed to make a fool out of himself and I think he really likes children. He truly convinces us that he is not the bad-ass he was made out to be during his wrestling career and he is so genuinely charming. I didn't think he would last long, but this guy has made it big in PG movies. Nobody was more surprised than me when he started to do only Disney kind of films. Then he made his foray into Hollywood and he was one of those rare WWE stars who actually had a charm about them. He was so strong, menacing and seemed to be so bad and angry all the time. This man was one of my favourites when I used to watch WWE. The first time when 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson turned into a fairy wearing that pink frock or dress with wings, I was howling with laughter. FINAL VERDICT: I liked it and recommend it. It was funny, we all need invisible spray. ![]() I also liked the parts where he goes into people's homes in various ways. ![]() Of course, he learns valuable lessons over this time. So Derek is sentenced to 2 weeks as a tooth fairy by the head fairy, Julie Andrews. Billy Crystal cameos as Jimmy, the fairy whom gives him the shrinking paste, fairy dust, etc. That night Derek is summoned to fairy land and in a unique way is given things for fairies to use and trained to fly. One night Derek almost slips up and tells the young daughter there is no tooth fairy. He has a girlfriend played by Ashley Judd, why her I don't know because it is a very minor role, whom has 2 kids. He plays, Derek Thompson, a hockey player known as the Tooth Fairy because he knocks a lot of teeth out. The Rock pulls off the role of the Tooth Fairy quite well. It must be said in closing that given his nickname and reputation, it's a miracle the Tooth Fairy has been allowed to survive with such a dazzling row of pearlys.Even though it's for kids, this movie turned out much better than I thought it would. There's no way I can recommend this movie to anyone much beyond the Tooth Fairy Believement Age, but I must testify it's pleasant and inoffensive, although the violence in the hockey games seems out of place. The chemistry between the two suggests that they're together primarily because they work so well together at tucking time. I wonder why it didn't make Derek a husband instead of a boyfriend, but parents can relax: He seems to sleep on the couch. Fair enough, but where can you go with them dramatically? I guess as an actor you know that in a movie called "Tooth Fairy" you're going to have a lot of scenes where you're tucking someone in. ![]() Julie Andrews, by still looking like Julie Andrews, seems to be swimming upstream.ĭerek's girlfriend, mentioned above, is played by the divine Ashley Judd, thanklessly. There's a kind of fascination in how film so accurately records the passage of time. Anyway, I've noticed in a lot of movies lately that the stars I've grown old with have, good lord, also grown old with me. Maybe he could start looking for dramatic roles as your favorite wise-guy uncle. He seems more avuncular now, more confiding. I say it not as a criticism but as an observation. Look, I hate to say this, but Billy Crystal has put on a few pounds. Also in Fairy Land is Jerry ( Billy Crystal), in charge of magic weapons, who issues Derek visibility sprays and suchlike. Tracy's great regret in life is that he was never issued wings. Merchant is a 6-foot-7-inch British comedian, inheritor of the possibly genetic trait that populated Monty Python. The movie's best scenes involve Fairy Land, where a brisk Fairy Social Worker named Tracy ( Stephen Merchant) adds some quirkiness. His idea of a tone for the Tooth Fairy is sincerity. He's a pleasant, relaxed screen presence, but a Method actor he's not. The Rock plays this role straight, which is basically the way he plays every role. He spends so much time in the penalty box he has his own recliner installed. The coach puts him in just so he can take someone out. Derek's hockey nickname is "The Tooth Fairy," because he is a specialist in body slamming opponents so hard that you can fill in the rest.
